Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog for another post. I have decided to do another chatty / ramble post again. I hope that’s okay. I’m hoping this will generate a little conversation and that you guys have an opinion on it. I would love to know what you think. So as you all know I haven’t had my blog for very long. I literally started it about a month ago on a little bit of a whim really. I’d been wanting to do it for a while and wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or not. But after a horrendous year last year I want to try new things this year and branch out of my comfort zone a little bit. So here we are. I have a blog now. But I need a secret ingredient to make it work properly and fulfilled it's potential. That secret ingredient is… FRIENDS.
Yes, friends. And for once I don’t mean the legendary tv show. Friends. We all have them. Whether they are close to home or slightly further afield. But this time I need friends online. I need friends that are gonna support me and help me to grow my little space on the internet. And that’s exactly why I think it’s important to have friends in this industry. People you can message and ask advice on stuff. People to meet up with to create content for one another. But more importantly: beautiful and kind people who have a common ground with you and share the same interests and ambitions as you. More often that not, people you meet online you get on with quickly and easily because you like the same musician or fashion blogger or place or content. In recent years anyway for me personally I have gained so many amazing online friends who mean so much more to me now than a mere ‘internet friend’. They are a friend. End of story. And honestly, my ‘internet friends’ have been there for me during the tough times a lot more than most people I know that live geographically close to me. In my personal opinion distance means absolutely nothing. Sure it can be a pain in the ass sometimes but if you really get on well with someone, the conversation is natural and not forced, you share the same interests and are there for each other when you need someone and you know that they will always endeavour to reply to a text or phone call then THAT is what a friendship is all about. And if anything if a friend does live far away then it just makes the time you have together when you can meet up or meet for the first time even more precious and special. Someone who is 50 miles away can be a better friends than someone who lives a few streets away. From my personal perspective. It’s all about making memories, even if my parents still get slightly freaked out, can’t keep up with who is who and don’t full understand what I’m talking about half the time… but lol it’s cool. I don’t mind explaining it. It makes me happy talking about amazing people. So that’s why especially in the last month or two I have tried really hard to network with people as much as I can and try to branch out and make friends with people. Especially on instagram. And to my absolute delight I have made some lovely friendships already. There are so many lovely people on social media and you just have to bite the bullet and send that first message even if it terrifies you. The worst that can happen is that someone doesn’t answer. And even then, all that means is that that person is losing out on a chance to connect with someone else so don’t take it personally. Trust me, I STILL get terrified over sending messages, DM’s, emails and making phone calls, the latter being the scariest. I have an irrational fear that people will think I’m annoying or being a weirdo. But I’m working on it constantly and I am getting better. Sending more DM’s to people than ever, soz if I’m clogging your inbox… But thanks to these new found friends. I have people I can talk to about all things blogging, fashion, beauty and pretty much anything. And I know that they wont judge me and they are there for me and it honestly feels amazing. I could ask someone where a piece of clothing is from, what the best cameras are, best places to go when I go somewhere new or just general advice and someone will be able to help. I have a support network of people from all over the place that inspire me every day and I think that’s so special to have. But it doesn’t stop here. I’m gonna keep trying to make my little network and presence on the internet even bigger and stronger. I just wanna meet and connect with as many amazing, inspiring and like-minded people as I can. It sounds ambitious I know but a gals gotta have something to strive for. I really do hope that you can all build yourselves a little support network like this in the future. Just take the first step and see what happens. You will never know if you don’t try and that’s my motto for 2019. So to all the blogger friends I have right now (and if they read this they will know who they are). I love you so much and thank you for all your support so far and being a cheerleader for me. You have no idea how much I appreciate it and how much it means to me. And to all the people that I will connect with and hopefully become friends with after publishing this post, I can't wait to get to know you better and potentially meet you in the near future and make some memories. Thank you all for reading, I would love to know what you think about this. Do you have online friends or a blogging support network? Let me know in the comments below or dm me on instagram. I love you all lots and I will see you soon for another post. Hugs and kisses to all of you. Love Jade xxx
