Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog for another post. So Halloween is on the horizon so I thought I would share my tips on how to spend the big day in the best way even if you don’t like scary things like horror movies or going out to trick or treat. I personally don’t like going to trick or treat on Halloween night itself and I can't stand horror movies but I still love Halloween. You might think I’m mad and talking nonsense in that sentence but hear me out. So I thought I would share with you all my go to plan of attack on how to do Halloween, the horror free way, if you don’t like scary stuff. First off:
Now this step is optional but at Halloween I normally do treat myself to some Halloween themed pj’s. ASOS is my personal fave for Halloween themed pj’s and just occasion pj’s in general. You could get yourself some or order several matching pairs for you and your friends to wear together on the big night. Buy some halloween treats from the supermarket like sweets n popcorn. Or if you’re feeling particularly creative or adventurous then make yourself some home-made treats. I just buy them because I’m lazy. Then make yourself a cozy drink, my personal fave is a big mug of hot chocolate (dairy free of course but yours doesn’t have to be). Orrrr if you are over 18 (or 21 if you’re American) this could be a good chance to have something like a hot cider or a spiced cider if you fancy a ‘drink’ drink. Now this step is optional butttt if you’re staying in and you wanna chill the F out I would use this time to run a hot bath with candles. Then I would light some candles in my room (only do this if it’s safe to and you have your parents permission if you don’t live by yourself), switch on some fairy lights. This’ll make your room or whichever room you wanna get comfy in cosy as hell. Then, and this is the most important part: get a fat stack of movies, halloween episodes of your fave tv shows all set up and ready to go. My Personal fave movies and episodes as I’ve said before I don’t like horrors so I always watch: Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The X Files and The Episode of Friends where Monica hosts a halloween party (Season 8, Ep 6. You’re welcome), The episode of Glee where they do Rocky Horror, Ghostbusters, Suicide Squad and finally if you wanna release the inner child in you watch the trilogy of the Hotel Transylvania movies!!! If some of you can handle horror then nows the time to watch all the classics like insidious, Annabelle, IT, AHS etc. I’m too much of a scaredy cat. If you get bored of watching movies of if that isn’t your thing then I have another suggestion for you: make a halloween playlist on Spotify and you could have a little Halloween disco party. I made a playlist a couple of years ago, I’ll link it here for you in case you want any inspiration on where to start. Click HERE to play it. And then once you’ve done all this, you can just sit back in your little candle lit halloween bubble in your Halloween pj’s with all the snacks, drinks and movies and just chill out and have all the spooky fun. All while staying in your own home in the warm. So you can still embrace Halloween and everything that is good about it but you don’t have to go trick or treating and it isn’y all about the gory stuff and watching every horror movie known to man. You can still have a blast without it. Trust me. I used to hate Halloween because I thought you had to watch horror movies to enjoy it. when I realised you don’t have to EVERYTHING changed and now I look forward to it every year. One more optional thing… you could do everything that i’ve said above but change one thing. MAKE IT A FANCY DRESS OCCASION !!!! So invite your friends/ family over and do everything else I said in this post to do but everyone has to dress up in typical halloween fashion. You could make it themed or just let people come in whatever costume they want to. You could have a little contest between you all to see who comes up with the best costume and makeup n stuff. And then chill together watching movies and eating snacks but in costume instead of in pj’s. And that’s it, that is my ultimate guide on how to spend and enjoy halloween if you don’t like scary stuff. I really hope you enjoyed reading this post and if you got this far thank you so much for reading. I’ve had so much fun writing this for you guys!!! But for now I’ll say bye and I will see you all soon for another post… and have a very spooky (happy) halloween. Hehe. Love Jade xxx
