Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog!!! Long time no see I know… So today’s post was a request from someone on Instagram. I get asked about Pinterest and my profile frequently and how I build up my following and presence on there. It’s no secret in the last few months I have become a bit of a Pinterest addict and I love going on there and seeing what’s up. I have so many boards now for a range of things and it’s just so much fun, but Pinterest is also a valuable tool for any creative out there and you really can make an impact there if you use it right. I think every blogger, creative or influencer should actively use it because it’s an easy way of gaining a shit ton of exposure and the best part: the app is totally free to use and download. As of now, me writing this anyway, I am on the cusp of reaching half a million monthly unique viewers. HALF A MILLION. Which is the most insane thing on this earth. Never ever though that was possible. And for reference, I started using it in January and got to 100K but then uni got in the way so the views dipped significantly. I have built myself back up again from around 10K since the end of May. So as you can see, I have built it back up again at a rapid rate to a higher peak than I had before and to the most crazy figure that I didn’t think was possible. So I thought I would share with you all in a blog post some of the tips and tricks I have learned over the time I have been actively using Pinterest which have helped me to grow so quickly. 1. Upgrade to the business account. This way you get data and analysis regularly including what pins got you the most traffic or impressions each week, the age range of your followers, where your following is from and what pins and boards appeal to them the most. This way you can tailor your content to what your following likes and hopefully grow faster as a result. If they save something that you saved then it’s like a domino effect, plus you’ll get the notifications for it too.
2. Tell people you have it. Do follow for follow with people you know to start with so you have something in your home feeds and don’t feel alone on it. Just share your profile with friends or ask on instagram if people wanna do follow for follow. 3. Add sections to your boards. Sections are a relatively new function to Pinterest so if you use it right you will probably get favoured by the sites algorithms. But if you add sections your followers can find something specific in board. It makes it easier and means people don’t have to sift though hundreds of pins to find something their interested in. If your profile is accessible then people are more likely to come back to it or follow you. 4. Follow individual boards as well as people. If you like on specific board that is specific to something follow it, but you don’t necessarily have to follow the person who made it. Like I follow lots of Friends (the tv series) boards, yes I am THAT sad, but I don’t always follow the people who make those boards. You could do that for virtually anything. 5. See what your followers and people you follow are pinning and try to save their pins, if they are relevant to your boards as well. Community is crucial. Gotta help each other out. 6. Link your profile everywhere. If you have blog. Link it there. If you have Youtube. Link it in your description boxes on videos. If you have instagram. LINK IT THERE. I’m serious just drive everyone borderline senile with it and just shove it everywhere. Then they’ll have no choice but to look at it even if its a look to see what the fuck the fuss is a about. It’s still views for you. So you win. 7. Go on there a few times a day. Spend up to 30 minutes a day on it just pinning everything and anything to build yourself up. At least when you first start. When it builds up you can do as little or as much as you wish. 8. Don’t just stick to one thing, branch out and then more people will be interest in you. If you are narrow minded with it then only one type of person will come to your profile. So with mine it ranges from: Food, Interiors, Friends to Travel and Aesthetics. This way I am able to get the biggest amount of traffic possible because I am attracting a massive range of users. Also, the more you show interest in the easier it is to find new pins and boards. 9. Use it for good and link to other things, eg blog posts and you can get traffic to your other platforms like a blog, youtube or your Instagram page. The data from analytics will show you, if you get the business profile, how many link clicks each image gets so you can actively see it working and gaining you traffic elsewhere. 10. Upload your own images as pins, then that gives you more attention to your own amazing content. You never know something could go viral and you could be a Pinterest king or queen. 11. Use the ‘more ideas’ or ‘suggested pins’ for your boards function. You can pin everything there that you like and that way you can build your boards up really quickly so they don’t look sparse. Fuller boards look better than ones with barely anything on them in my opinion. And those are my tips and tricks. Do let me know if this post was helpful to any of you out there. And let me know if you try any of them and if they work, I’d be very eager to know. If you want more posts like this then holla at me as well. I absolutely love Pinterest and love going through it an finding cool images and ideas and all sorts of things. I find it the easiest and by far least dramatic social media platform to use, I’d even go as far to say that it’s relaxing. So I hope this posts helps one of you at least out there to love Pinterest a little bit more, give it another chance and really make an impact with it. But for now thank you for reading and I will see you all soon for another post. Love Jade xxx
