Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. So this week has been mental health awareness week. Which we all know is a subject extremely close to my heart. It’s been amazing, so uplifting and inspiring to see so many people talking about their experiences and sharing their stories. However, as amazing as week likes this are for pushing mental health into the wider sphere and into the mainstream. For me it should be every week and every day. For people with mental illnesses it doesn’t stop happening after a set seven day period. It’s something we have to deal with and live through every single day. So in light of this I thought I would share with you all some of my favourite quotes and affirmations that I really love. Or ones that have helped me if I’m having a bad time with my anxiety or mental health in general. I hope you like them too. Here are the quotes and affirmations: 1. Worrying means you suffer twice. 2. We are humans, not machines. You’re allowed to feel shit sometimes. 3. People with mental illnesses are badass because they are fighting against their own minds every single day. (remember this if you feel like you’re weak or crumbling) 4. It’s okay to not be okay. 5. You can’t have a rainbow without the rain. 6. Having a mental illness is not a personal failure. 7. Healing/recovery is not linear. 8. Your mental illness isn’t all you are, it’s just a part of you. There is so much more to you than that. 9. This is just a chapter of your life story: not the whole life story. 10. A problem shared is a problem halved. I hope those were useful in some way and if any of them resonated with you for whatever reason I’m sorry you’re struggling. But I promise you’re strong enough to face what’s in front of you. And remember this, if you’re feeling down you can always talk to me. I’ll always listen, even if I’m not qualified to. We all need someone to talk to. It was something I never had until recently so I would hate for someone else to feel completely alone. We all have to help each other in this to break down the stigma and to keep talking and creating conversations. But for now look after yourselves and take care. All my love, Jade xxx
