Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. For today’s post I want to talk about vegan alternatives. With more and more people opting for a vegan lifestyle and diet these days there can be some pressure on ‘non-vegan’ people to try different things and make more conscious and healthier choices. So I have compiled a small list of some of my favourite vegan alternatives that I willingly choose to eat because they just taste so good, the fact that they are healthier and vegan is just a bonus. They still feel like a treat to me. There is a range of things from breakfast to snacks but most of these things are sweet things, I need to explore some savoury options for another post. But I naturally gravitate towards sweet things :))
1. Açai bowls - THESE ARE THE SHIT. I tried one anyway because I just fancied one but when I found out they were vegan because they are usually blended together with almond milk I was shook. They are so so tasty especially with all the toppings and are so so good for you. Not the cheapest things depending on where you go but I think they are so so worth it. Great for breakfast or as a snack. 2. Porridge with almond or coconut milk - another breakfast thing and an easy change to make. I have this at home quite a lot. Literally just make your porridge as normal but just change the milk for a dairy free option. Almond milk, for me, adds a flavour to it so I can eat the porridge with nothing on it which is good. No need for sugary syrups or honey this way. And coconut milk is good because it, obviously, gives a coconut flavour. Almost like bounty but nicer. An easy way to incorporate a vegan meal into your lifestyle that wont feel like a drastic change. 3. Avocado on toast but with no eggs - If you’re like me and love avocado and eggs on toast but wanna try it in a vegan way then swapping the eggs out for mushrooms or another healthy option like tomatoes or even baked beans is a good way of doing it. And you could also add herbs in like thyme to add some extra flavour to it. You still get your avocado fix but it’s now vegan. 4. My vegan banana smoothie - okay so I had to plug this, sorry. Buttttt in my defence a smoothie is a great way of adding an easy healthy and vegan option into you diet. If you want more inspo then just search vegan smoothie recipe on Pinterest or google it for ideas. Or you can read my recipe HERE. 5. The vegan almond butter and dark chocolate cookie from pret a manger - I saved the best til last. The ultimate sweet treat that doesn’t even feel like it’s vegan. If you gave it to me blindfolded I would never guess it was. These cookies have a cult following behind them, people were legit rejoicing when pret brought them back into their stores, and fucking hell I can see why they do. They are so good, super indulgent and even though it’s dark chocolate they don’t taste bitter at all which is why I usually avoid dark chocolate. And the best part, if you eat them while they’re still warm they are SO SO gooey. The dream for a cookie in my opinion. And that’s it. Those are 5 of my favourite vegan alternatives to things. As I explore more foods that are vegan I will of course make another post. Maybe some savoury options or some vegetarian options and that can be easier to adjust to and easier to incorporate into a fast paced lifestyle. Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if I should do more vegan content and food content in general because I am a massive foodie and having blogging as an excuse to eat yummy food suits me just fine. But for now I’ll say bye and I’ll see you all soon for another post. Love Jade xxx
