Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog for another post. So recently I went on holiday for 10 days to Antigua. Which was amazing. But one of my fave things to do on holiday, aside from drinking gin all day every day, is to listen to lots of music while I chill by the pool or by the beach. Music is my life and I look forward to knowing that when I go away I can listen to music all day everyday. So I thought I would share with you guys some the music that made it into my holiday listening while I was gone. In case you want some new artists to discover in this new year or just wanna be nosey as to who I was listening to.
My Holiday Playlist January 2020: Sam Fender - since November last year I have become more and more obsessed with this guy. Oh my word can he release a TUNE. I love Sam’s music not just because it sounds amazing and his vocals are insane but if you listen to the lyrics they are so cleverly written and some very political. I just love it. I’ve had his debut album on loop while I was away and have no regrets. Some tracks to look out for are: Will We Talk, The Borders and Play God. Coldplay - now this maybe controversial but I actually really like Coldplay… please don’t hate me. But I’ve grown up listening to them because of my mom and it’s rubbed off. I’ve had Coldplay’s new album Everyday Life playing while I was at the beach and while some tracks I do skip there are some that I do really like. Those being: Orphans and Champion of The World. But Coldplay’s music is a special thing for me a nd my best friend so I was also listening to their older songs (which in my opinion are far better than the new stuff) because I was missing her and just needed a little somethin’ to remind me that she was in my heart, in between the texting we could manage with 4 hours time difference, while I was so far away. So songs like: A Sky Full of Stars, Paradise, Clocks and A Head Full of Dreams were played A LOT while I was gone too. Justin Bieber - Now this is big news. Biebs dropped new music for the first time in over FOUR YEARS people. And as someone who stood in Hyde Park and got significant bruises to see JB this was a big deal to me. Yummy is his new single and I am so so happy that JB is coming back onto the music scene. Whilst Yummy isn’t my fave of his, the lyrics are slightly questionable and it’s kinda repetitive, I’m just glad he’s back. This is only the start people!!!! But as well as his new songs ended up listening to his older stuff too, shoutout to people who were around BEFORE purpose came out…. I’m in that gang. I’ve been around since My World 2.0 came out sooooo… So it was nice to hear throwbacks and look forward to his future releases. Camila Cabello - Now this is absolutely no surprise to see if you know me at all or have been around for a while nowand it doesn’t really need an explantion. I adore Camila and at the start of December she dropped her new album romance so obviously while I was away I gave it a rather large amount of air time. I mean, I have song lyric swotting to do because I’m still totally shocked that i’m seeing her not once but twice this year when she’s on tour, I know… I’m actually gonna pass out. But I also played summer tunes like Know No Better and Havana because I just cant get enough of them. Taylor Swift - Same goes for Taylor really, I got completely surprised with tour tickets to see Taylor in July in London. Let me know if any of you are going too!!!! So I naturally wanted to start learning the words to her new album Lover so I can positively scream every word in the summer after a few gins :))) It’s such a good album. After reputation this album to me feels so much more light and breezy. I don’t know if that even makes sense but there we go. I have so many faves on this album already like: London Boy, Cornelia Street and You Need To Calm Down (THIS VIDEO OH MY GOD THE CAMEOS ARE UNREAL). But a surprise fave was I forgot you existed. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I actually do. The lyrics really hit home with me, struck a nerve and I personally felt them. First time I heard it I was like shit this is exactly how I feel about stuff right now and how I’m trying to move forward and how I’m evaluating the relationships in my life right now. Because let’s say some people are no more in my life anymore because I’ve realised I deserve more than what I was getting. This song is really helping with that for me. Taylor really can write a song you guys, so genius. So that song got a lot of air time, as well as the others. Ariana Grande - Now like Camila, Ariana making an appearance here should really be no surprise and really should be expected of me. So here she is. My baby gal. Of course I was gonna listen to her, I listen to her basically everyday and have done for years. But at the end of her tour she dropped a LIVE ALBUM. So now I get to basically replay tour in my head every single day. It’s just magic, especially that the show I saw on my birthday is included on the album (London night 5 in case anyone is interested, October 16. Listen to the start of bad idea and you’ll hear it. I played my personal video back and it matched because she makes a little squeal before she says welcome to the swt. Yes I am this pathetic lol). But this album gives me literal chills, and has bought tears to my eyes. This tour has given me the happiest memories so to have the live versions in my music library is so special, and I know the same goes for my friends too. But as well as the live album I just played all her albums throughout the trip too at various points. Dance type music. I don’t know what it is but there is just something about being on a beach in the sun that makes me want to listen to more ‘dance’ sounding music. Think the EDM type spectrum. I think it’s because the music is so upbeat and lively and when you’re on a beach you’re usually at your most chilled and happiest. So I guess the music reflects that. So I found myself gravitating towards music from artists like Calvin Harris and David Guetta amongst other on the EDM spectrum more than I normally would when I’m at home. There are some absolute throwbacks and gems if you scroll through the discography of both for long enough and far enough back. Try it sometime if you need a boogie or are in the gym and need some energetic music to get you through your workout. The Someone Great soundtrack. I adore this movie and the soundtrack is equally fab. Some underrated gems in here as well as the bop that is Truth Hurts by Lizzo. So I stuck this on a few times while I was away if I fancied a change rom everything else. Now finally we have some playlists. So i’m gonna quickly explain them to you: First we have a Spotify Playlists for the 10’s. With the end of the decade spotify made a load of playlists to mark this occasion. It’s genius. These are ready made playlists with mix of songs from 2010 right through to 2019. Great to stick on shuffle if you don’t know what you fancy listening to one day. And they have one for practically every mood you can think of. Next is My ‘Chill’ Playlist on Spotify. This is my little baby and the first playlist that I really thought about what I wanted it’s aesthetic to be and what I wanted the overall sound to be for it. I keep adding to it and taking from it so it’s always changing. Full of a mix of well-known tracks but also some obscure indie fish finds too. I love it. Great for sunbathing and falling asleep too. Also great for flights when you don’t want full on party playlist. Linked HERE if you wanna listen to it. And finally I listened to a throwback playlist which spans from 2008-2018. Simple: a huge playlist full of songs from those years and everything in between. Great to stick on shuffle and leave it playing, especially if you’re working or have a long car journey ahead of you. The link is HERE if you wanna listen to it. And that’s it, I’m aware this a very long blog post but I could talk about music all day everyday. I hope you enjoyed reading this, if you want more music posts let me know if you have any ideas for me. But I defo wanna write more of them anyway. I really enjoyed writing this and it’s just something different for my blog and another direction to take it in. But for now thank you for reading and I’ll see you all soon for a brand new post. Love Jade xxx
