Within the blogging world I find that there is a misconception / bloggers can feel pressured that you have to be in London all the time or living in London in order to have some success because that’s where the cool locations are for photos and where most events take place. I have felt this pressure and often have the FOMO because everyone in London just seems to be doing so much better than me because they are in the thick of everything and have easier access to events n stuff. I just wanna take a minute to remind you all that, that is not the case at all and wherever you live if you’re feeling the pressure to be in London all the time you really don’t need to be. You are doing fine. Going to London once now and again is more than enough. So in light of that I thought I would share with you all my top 5 cities that AREN’T London. These cities are so so cool as well and in my opinion should be considered for blogging things more instead of everything being in London. The distribution really isn't equal or fair in my opinion. The 5 cities I mention here have plenty to do and you can still get great content in them and one of these cities might be easier for you to travel to than London. I hope there is a city here for everyone. I’ve been to all of these places, I love them all and wanna go back to them all asap. My top 5 cities outside of London. 1. Birmingham - Okay so I am putting my home city at the top because as much as we joke about brum and take the piss out of Brummies and the accent of the region it is a cool place and I love having it on my doorstep. Call me biased but I do love good old brum town. But also, you can get to virtually anywhere from Birmingham because it is smack bang in the middle of the country. So Yorkshire, the south west, Scotland and even Wales can be reached by train from Birmingham. But in Birmingham there are coffee shops aplenty, great shopping (just gonna make the point that we have the biggest primark in the world hehe), cool bars and night out places like Ghetto golf. And also the Digbeth area of town is a super quirky and indie and is great for photo locations due to all the street art and graffiti. Seriously, give Birmingham a chance and if you need anything I will happily help!!! 2. Nottingham - My second fave place is Nottingham. I went there recently and was so so impressed with how many places to eat and drink that were there. Like Birmingham you can get virtually anywhere from Notts, including wales, Sheffield and Lincoln just to name a few. The shopping is great too, all your high street faves and some great vintage stores. And lots of independent coffee shops and places to eat too. My faves were Hydrate Zero which is a açai bowl and smoothie bar, Braderie which is a cool vintage clothes shop and Be At One bar (the toilets are fab for pics guys). But I’ve also heard great things about a place called lost city adventure golf as well so I am keen to go back to notts soon to go and try it out there. 3. Manchester - My third fave city outside London is Manchester. Now Manchester is a super cool place and it has a special place in my heart, not necessarily for happiest reason but still. *insert bumblebee emoji here and you should know what I mean*. But there is SO much to do in Manchester. So many cool bars and restaurants, great shopping and places to get pictures too. But Manchester also has a great music scene and has hailed so many successful bands over the years, culture is rich there. I love the fact that Manchester is only an hour away from me by train so I can go there easily if I fancy a break from Birmingham. 4. Edinburgh - My fourth fave city is NOT in England so couldn’t be further from London. And that city is Edinburgh. There are so many reasons why I love Edinburgh. So many. There is so much to do there and so much to explore: The Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street just to name a few things. But being in Scotland it has it’s own distinct culture and feel that I loveeee. And yes that means bagpipes, kilts, tartan and shortbread to me. I cant wait to go back there in a few weeks time for the Fringe Festival, another must do or must see if you can get up there. 5. York - My final fave city outside of London is York. Now i’m very very lucky to have family that live there so I can go as much as I want to. But York is seriously beautiful. It is a walled city and I have walked the city walls before and it’s a great thing to do, super relaxing and calming actually. But York is full of independent shops and cobbled streets which makes it so picturesque and perfect for photos. Not to mention the famous York Minster, it’s stunning!!! And as well the river Ouse runs through the city and you can walk along sections of it and it’s such a relaxing thing to do. Ugh I just love York. Please go there you guys, I promise you’ll love it. And there we have it, those are my top 5 places that aren’t London. I hope this gives some of you some inspo or a new place to add to your travel lists. Let me know if you visit any of them. But I hope this reminds you that you absolutely don’t have to live in London or be near London to make it and be successful in this industry. I’m hoping you can all access at least 1 of the 5 cities I mentioned here. If you live in any of them and think I missed anything worth a mention feel free to tell me and I can add it in. But for now I’ll say thank you for reading and I will see you all soon for another post. Byeeee. Love Jade xxx
